Introduction

This document is intended to provide some information to set up a running Linux box on a WinBook XP5. Knowledge about Linux is required. It will only cover specific XP5 problems.

DISCLAIMER: It is by no means complete and only reflects my personal experience. Nevertheless information on how to make X-Windows running on the LCD is discussed. Note: This page has nothing to do with the WinBook Corporation and no warranty is given about the correctness.

UPDATE(5/1/97): I put a little HOWTO make the soundcard working in the kernel config section. Since I do not have a sound card I rely on the information I received from Celia Clause . The best reference concerning Linux on laptops is provided by The Linux Laptop Home Page For people who know how powerful a Mac or OS/2 desktop could be but need a stable operation system: KDE Desktop , the NexT generation UNIX desktop environment has arived.
